National Disaster Medical System

The CCSC received a letter from the US Public Health Service, Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) and the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) asking that the societies more than 150,000 members be encouraged to participate in this activity as there is a shortage of critical care providers.

Annually society volunteers that participate in the NDMS do a disaster drill and responded as requested by the U.S. federal government as requested.  The CCSC strongly supports this initiative and encourages members to volunteer for this important national medical response activity.

Additionally, during times of disaster both at home and abroad, the CCSC has coordinated response efforts and worked to alert critical care providers, government agencies and other non-profits tothe  needs of those in disaster regions.
